The Temecula Recognition Program - "Companies In My Backyard" is a monthly program recognizing the significant contributions Temecula businesses make to the local economy by providing jobs and increasing the economic vitality of the community and whose hard work and dedication make the City of Temecula a better place to live, work and visit.
Each month the the City Council and City staff honor selected companies. This provides an opportunity for the Mayor, members of the City Council and staff to meet Temecula business leaders and the employees that make their businesses run.

TEMECULA MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY RECOGNIZED BY CITY OF TEMECULA

TEMECULA, CA (July 15, 2009) -- In May of this year, Mayor Maryann Edwards launched the City’s Business/Industry Recognition Program. This program is all about recognizing the city’s local businesses that have helped shape our community. The Manufacturing Industry was the second industry to be recognized for their contribution to our local economy by providing jobs and increasing the economic vitality of the community.
According to the most recently available data provided by the California Employment Development Department, the manufacturing industry is Temecula’s third largest employment sector as it relates to the number of jobs. In 2007, there were over 10,000 workers in the manufacturing industry in Temecula.
Also, Temecula’s largest payroll was in manufacturing at over $561 million due to the strength of the city’s high tech sector. Temecula is unique in having manufacturing workers average $55,000/year.
A small, mid-size and large scale manufacturing business were recognized at the July 14th Temecula City Council Meeting which included CNC Manufacturing, Sunstone Components Group and International Rectifier, Temecula.
CNC Manufacturing, a small family-owned and operated business in Temecula since 1996 has over 50 years of combined experience, serving major aerospace leaders around the country. The company manufactures military aircraft parts and has existing contracts with such major prime contractors as the Boeing Company and Northrop Grumman. CNC Manufacturing continues to grow and recently opened up a second small machine shop named GRC, Co., in Temecula.
Sunstone Components Group is a mid-size manufacturer which was formed in April 2008 by the merger of two successful Temecula companies, Solid State Stamping and Molding International Engineering (MIE). In 1988, Solid State Stamping moved from Orange County to Temecula. Solid State Stamping is the acknowledged industry leader in wire connector pin technology. Since 1985, MIE has been one of the premier injection molders in the U.S MIE manufactures metal and plastic parts used in airbags and other automotive safety equipment. Safety-critical automotive components are the target market for both companies. Sunstone Components continues to emphasize the MIE and Solid State Stamping brands in their respective marketplaces. All three businesses are operating in Temecula.
International Rectifier is a pioneer and world leader in advanced power management technology, from digital, analog and mixed-signal ICs to advanced circuit devices, power systems, and components. The world’s leading manufacturers of computers, appliances, automobiles, consumer electronics, and defense systems rely on IR technology to drive the performance and efficiency of their products. Founded in 1947, IR is headquartered in El Segundo, CA and has operations in over 20 countries. Their Temecula facility was built in 1986. IR employs over 4,500 workers worldwide with approximately 536 employed at their Temecula facility.
